Eligibility

High school students from the DFW area are invited to attend. If you are not from this area your ticket will be denied. Also, It is preferred if you come with a pre-formed team of four (4). Four (4) is the maximum team size.

Requirements

Think of and create some sort of solution to a school based problem, preferably mainly with code. You may use physical tools, i.e. Amazon Alexa's, Arduino's, etc., but you must provide them for yourself. Additionally, it is not expected that you have a fully functional project, as the idea and creativity is a heavy aspect of a hackathon. However, we expect you to have atleast a demo (doesn't need to be that great, it just needs to demonstrate your ideas) of your project completed for judging.

Judging Criteria

  • Creativity
The uniqueness of your project will be graded. Don't ride solely on this however, as your project must also be realistic and applicable to our prompt.
  • Quality
The overall quality and condition of your project will be judged. This includes how much your project can do at this time, and how it looks, however what your project can accomplish at the time of submission is much more important.
  • Complexity
This is a wide span of judging criteria, including the difficulty of the software you used and the project's overall "intelligence" (i.e. using high level programming techniques, having a robust project)
  • Presentation
The quality of your presentation will be judged. Please note that this doesn't mean how you project looks, but instead how you demonstrate and show it to the judges. Although, a nice looking project always helps.
  • Efficiency
Your project will be judged on how well it solves your chosen task.
